Negatives

  • Lack of controls on the unit itself
  • so-called ‘randomised’ starting procedure
  • random tripping of the electricity supply to the unit.

Outline any faults you have experienced with the unit

I am on the third unit as each of the preceding units has failed under warranty.

Tell us about your home charging routine

I drive about 200 miles per week and I charge once or twice a week using off-peak electricity as part of the Octopus Go tariff (00:30 – 05:30 daily).

If you were buying a new charging unit now, what would you buy and why?

I intend to purchase an Ohme Home Pro in the next few weeks and have it installed by a local electrician who has recently completed courses in EV charger installation.

Tell us about your electricity provider and tariff. Would you recommend them?

I am on the Octopus Go tariff and estimate that I spend about £15 – £18 per month. As I was already an Octopus customer, switching to Octopus Go was seamless and quick.

Are you part of a charger-sharing scheme for those who don’t have their own charger?

No
