Nicola drives a SEAT Mii Electric 35kWh 2021.
This is Nicola’s first electric car, she’s owned the SEAT Mii from new and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 20,000-30,000 miles and she achieves 145 miles from a full charge.
Why did you choose the SEAT Mii Electric?
Similar size etc. as my previous ICE (Skoda Citigo), better emissions and cheaper to run.
Positives
- Amazing drive
- comfort
- reliability.
Negatives
- Nothing
Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

What are the standout technological features of the car?
Heated seats, parking sensors, holder for phone using it as a sat nav, straightforward control layout, get in and drive without messing with a screen. Easy to charge with a stop charge button, cruise control, lane control fog lights, parking sensors, regen which is easy to change while you drove, air con & heated windscreen with rapid defrost.
Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car
Place to put cable is just behind the lip of the car, no messing about trying to drag a cable out from under your stuff. Two full size all-age kiddy seats in the back too.
What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?
New Nissan LEAF Acenta with heat pack. Brilliant value, similar range and more leg room for a growing child in the rear. Better in bad weather & on the motorway.
Do you charge your electric car from home?
No
Do you use public charging networks?
Yes
What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
Pod Point (cheap and easy), InstaVolt and MGF (great when traveling, both are contactless and have CCS and CHAdeMO). GeniePoint (tea at Morrison’s cafe) & MER reliable and easy to use with RDFI fob.
Shell are so complicated with the app constantly crashing when trying to download, I just gave up. bp pulse, fiddly app and only seem to be in singles or connected to hotels where the signage and hoops you have to jump through takes longer than the charge. I avoid anything where setting the app up is fiddly on a smart phone for a dyslexic!
Insurer
NFU – just the best all round (fab) service.
Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a SEAT Mii Electric
Use for work and get 45-55p per mile. I get (mostly) free electricity at the council car park and at work. I save on maintenance, tax, fuel and finance so over £200 p/m this last year compared to my five year old Citigo. Even on the most expensive chargers I’m still better off as the Mii averages 4 miles per kWh, about £6-7 per 40 miles. The ICE costs a minimum of £10 for 40 miles for anything near the same driving experience.
