The ID.7 Tourer, Volkswagen’s first ever battery electric estate vehicle, goes on sale in the UK on 18 April.
One variant will be available initially, the ID.7 Tourer Pro Match, priced £52,240 RRP OTR.
The ID.7 Tourer Pro S and a high-performance GTX version are set to go on sale in the summer.
The ID.7 Tourer is an estate version of the ID.7 fastback. This new estate combines bags of space with decent efficiency; the car has a drag coefficient of just 0.24, which makes it less air-resistant at speed and therefore more energy-efficient. Indeed, the newcomer has a forecast range of 374 miles with the 77 kWh battery in the ID.7 Tourer Pro Match, which can be charged at up to 175 kW. The Pro S model is set to have a larger 86 kWh battery with a projected range of about 425 miles and charging at up to 200 kW. The sporty GTX all-wheel drive model will have the 77 kWh battery.
Standard ID.7 Tourer exterior features include LED headlights and LED tail light clusters, roof rails and diamond-cut 19-inch alloy wheels. One additional exterior feature of the ID.7 Tourer compared with the fastback is the illuminated Volkswagen logo at both the front and the rear.
With five people on board, the ID.7 Tourer can accommodate up to 605 litres of luggage. This figure rises to 1,714 litres when measured up to the roof and with the rear seats folded down; in this case, the load area is almost two metres long.
Drivers and passengers can look forward to the same levels of comfort as seen already with the ID.7. Premium materials, intelligent automatic air conditioning with smart air vents, and optional award-winning ergoActive heated front seats with pressure point massage. Volkswagen’s new Wellness app is also now on board: this adjusts various vehicle functions according to preconfigured programmes (Fresh Up, Calm Down and Power Break) to enhance occupant well-being during journeys or breaks.
The interior and equipment also include keyless locking and starting, luggage partition net, 30-colour ambient lighting, heated multi-function steering wheel, Discover Pro navigation system, an enhanced augmented-reality head-up display and a rear-view camera.
An optional panoramic sunroof with smart glass is also available for the ID.7 Tourer. The transparent roof can be made opaque or transparent electronically by means of a polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) layer that is integrated in the glass.
The all-new dash and infotainment architecture, first seen on the ID.7 fastback, comes with a high-definition 15-inch screen and the latest Volkswagen operating system.
The new IDA voice assistant is operated using natural language and voice commands. This enables control of many vehicle functions and it can answer specific questions on a variety of topics, aided by online databases and, in future, AI technology via ChatGPT.
