Mustang Mach-E 2021 electric car owner review

Mustang Mach-E 2021 electric car owner review

Mick drives a Mustang Mach-E 2021.

This is Mick’s first electric car, he’s owned the Mustang Mach-E from new and drives under 5,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 5,000-10,000 miles and he achieves 180 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Mustang Mach-E?

I already own a Mustang GT so when Ford announced the Mach-E I was impressed with the unique design.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • I knew this particular model wouldn’t be as available as other manufacturers and I liked the idea of having a more rarer model.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • Mileage anxiety is the main factor which causes me to only use the vehicle for a maximum of 100-mile round trip.
  • several designs with the vehicle have been cheaply manufactured which is a let down
  • at the time of viewing the first Mach-Es (that were displayed in the Ford dealerships) were a little misleading as to what was items were & were not included.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Range reduces to 174 miles from a full 100% charge. Resetting increases it to 214 miles.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Yes: battery connection, computer reset, faulty driver’s door lock and wing mirrors controller. Rear brake discs scored at a very low mileage but Ford technical report says normal? I’ll get an early MOT inspection before vehicle requires its first certificate.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

Comparable with most mid-range vehicles.

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

That disposal of EVs will be more damaging to the environment than petrol or diesel vehicles.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Possibly a hybrid to eliminate the range anxiety or I may consider hydrogen technology.

Do you charge your electric car from home?

Yes

Do you have a home charging unit installed?

No

Please outline both positive & negative elements of your electricity supplier & tariff

Just a basic unit charge from Octopus.

Do you use public charging networks?

No

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

Axa Insurance

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Mustang Mach-E

Not sure with the fluctuation between fossil fuel prices and electricity costs that one is better than the other. Electric cars are (unfairly) dropping in price with the media mis-reporting on EVs.
