Mark drives a Renault Megane E-Tech Techno EV60 160KW 2023.

This is Mark’s first electric car, he’s owned the Renault Megane E-Tech from new and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 5,000-10,000 miles and he achieves 220 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Renault Megane E-Tech?

A desire to use a more sustainable mode of transport as I’ve worked for over 30 years in the field of environmental protection.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

Yes, so far.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

  • Both front suspension coils, top mounts and left driveshaft replaced
  • missing bolts to steering/suspension, omitted at factory
  • resealed windscreen
  • resealed under both wings
  • new interior carpet and front foams replaced
  • still leaking water so footwells are soaking
  • failed software update not resolved
  • car is an absolute lemon.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

The electric technology is great and it drives like a dream if you can ignore the defects and wear waterproof footwear!

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

It looks great but scratch below the surface and the poor build quality and quality control will soon hit you hard.

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

That multi-storey car parks are collapsing because of the extra weight!

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

To be honest, I would like to pause until the quality issues are resolved.

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

Ohme – the system is great, it’s never has let me down and is linked to Octopus.

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

Octopus are nice to deal with and I love their Intelligent tariff.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

Rarely used but simple when I do. I try and use Electroverse as they charge back to your Octopus account and you get a discount.

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

Nothing to say really, went with RAC insurance and no problems.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running a Renault Megane E-Tech

Great for cash flow each month, £4.50 for a full charge!
