Polestar 2 2022 electric car owner review

Polestar 2 2022 electric car owner review

Steve drives a Polestar 2 Single Motor Long Range 78kWh 2022.

This is Steve’s first electric car, he’s owned the Polestar 2 from new and drives 5,000-10,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 10,000-20,000 miles and he achieves 270 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Polestar 2?

I wanted an electric car that wasn’t an SUV. I also didn’t want a Tesla due to them being largely a lot of tech toys rather than a car to drive. After test driving a number of cars the Polestar won on driving experience, styling and value for money.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • One pedal driving is very intuitive and effective
  • quality of interior
  • quality of driving experience.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • Lack of a spare wheel due to stupidly oversized wheels
  • poor rear visibility and limited rear headroom
  • reversing lights are massively ineffective.

Compared to when you first bought the car, does your battery still charge at the same rate & do you still get the same range?

No reduction in either range or charging rate other than seasonal temperature-related.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

No faults!

What are the standout technological features of the car?

  • Integration of driving controls with motors and brakes to achieve a simple but intuitive driving experience
  • ability to use the app to precondition the car prior to use. When plugged in this extends the range.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

The curry hook on the glovebox is a winner!

What’s the biggest or funniest myth you’ve heard about EVs?

That when the road is gridlocked in a blizzard EVs will be cold and stranded. When in reality EVs will be warm and ready to use without using much battery while also enjoying internet access!

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Not looking to change.

Do you charge your electric car from home?

Yes

Do you have a home charging unit installed?

No

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

  • ChargePlace Scotland – good selection, fast and easy to use
  • IONITY – great discount with Plugsurfing and reliable fast charging
  • bp pulse.
