Polestar 2 2023 electric car owner review (USA)

Polestar 2 2023 electric car owner review (USA)

John Irwin drives a Polestar 2 78kWh 2023.

This is John’s fourth electric car, he’s owned the Polestar 2 from new and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the car is between 500-1,000 miles and he achieves 260 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Polestar 2?

I loved my 2022 Polestar 2 but it didn’t have the 4-way camera, adaptive cruise control, cross traffic detection, etc. I’m 91 and I need these features.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • Road manners
  • Android system
  • appearance.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • I can’t think of anything.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

It has been perfect so far as was my 2022 model.

What are the standout technological features of the car?

The battery is mounted under the seats and in the central tunnel. That allows for a lower floor, especially in the rear seats.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

The front motor is now an asynchronous motor that provides power only when needed. This increases the range and gives the car a rear power bias like a rear-drive ICE car such as a BMW.

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

None

Clipper Creek 30-amp plug-in unit.

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

Constant 24-hour rate that is very low. I can select all-renewable at a slight increase, if desired.

Do you use public charging networks?

No

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

USAA – I have had USAA for 71 years with complete satisfaction.

Please itemise where you’re saving money (or not) owning & running an electric car

Future Texans will pay a fixed EV road tax but I bought before it came into effect. Insurance is high, so I probably break even with my wife’s ICE car in costs per mile.
