Volkswagen ID. Buzz 2022 electric van owner review

Volkswagen ID. Buzz 2022 electric van owner review

Lee drives a Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo 77kWh 2022.

This is Lee’s second electric van, he’s owned the ID. Buzz from new and drives 10,000-15,000 miles annually. The current mileage of the van is between 0-500 miles and he achieves 250 miles from a full charge.

Why did you choose a Volkswagen ID. Buzz?

I am an electrician that installs EV chargers, so feel that I should be able to offer an opinion by owning and running one. Also I have had 3 VW Transporters and like the the brand, so wanted to try their new electric van.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car

  • Fabulous to drive
  • awesome funky looks
  • stand out from the crowd.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car

  • Nothing yet?!

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

Not yet, only a week old!

What are the standout technological features of the car?

Such a smooth comfortable drive. The new infotainment system and controls are so different to my diesel vans. Some might say it’s too clever and takes away the driver involvement but I think it is fantastic. I also like the regenerative braking facility. I can’t find a negative. The only issue I had with my previous EV was how poorly it performed when the temperature dropped to the region of freezing. It basically halved the range of the van! Be aware!!

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this electric car

All the sensors around the vehicle aid you when you’re trying to get through tight spots, linked to the lane assist etc. Oh, and the parking memory facility, very clever!

What electric car(s) are you interested in next and why?

Not planning that move yet.

Home charging unit – outline both positive & negative elements

ICS charger – looks sleek and the App is easy to use. Bit of a pig to set up and link to your phone (required a call to customer support to aid the set up).

Electricity supplier & tariff – outline both positive & negative elements

I haven’t looked to see what is the best supplier, as I am tied into a two year deal, that I can’t move from easily.

Do you use public charging networks?

No

Insurer – outline both positive & negative elements

A plan – brilliant. No problem at all getting it set up, even though it was a brand new vehicle to the market.

Please itemise where you’re saving money owning & running a Volkswagen ID. Buzz

I am working on the theory that it is currently half the price of running a diesel. Although the van cost a good £10k more than an equivalent diesel van.
