GRIDSERVE launches its fuelService assistance app for disabled drivers

GRIDSERVE is launching its fuelService assistance app at its Electric Forecourts in Norwich and Braintree to help make electric vehicle charging easy and accessible for disabled drivers.

There are currently 2.35 million cars with blue badges in the UK and 14.6 million people registered as disabled, representing 4.2% and 22% of the population respectively.

The transition to a net zero future must include everyone and ensure that disabled drivers and passengers do not get left behind. GRIDSERVE’s two-of-a-kind Electric Forecourt service stations are already the blueprint for an all-electric transport future. Its new fuelService app is now ensuring that this future is accessible to all.

Using the fuelService app is simple:

  • Drivers search by fuel type and location
  • drivers then select one of GRIDSERVE’s Electric Forecourts and fuelService will contact the GRIDSERVE gurus and ask them if they can help
  • Once assistance is confirmed, the driver should arrive at the charger and let the app know they have arrived
  • a GRIDSERVE guru will then arrive to assist the driver with charging.

All Electric Forecourts have accessible extra-wide bays which are prioritised for disabled drivers, alongside access ramps, accessible washrooms, lifts to access all areas and braille throughout the interior of the building. GRIDSERVE has engaged accessible tourist consultancy ‘Access for All UK’ throughout the design and construction process of the forecourts and the consultancy will continue to review all sites and provide ongoing accessibility recommendations to meet current and future needs of disabled drivers.
