FIAT 500e 2022: Public charging review

GrannyT drives a FIAT 500e 42kWh 2022 and shares his experiences to-date on public charging.

What do you think of the UK public charging network in general?

I cannot speak for the rest of the UK but where I live in Northern Ireland the public charging network is very sparse. There is almost always a queue for chargers and often they are not working. This requires lots of planning when I want to go on a longish journey.

What and where are your favourite UK public chargers driving your FIAT 500e?

My favourite public charger is in the Shane Retail Park in Belfast. It is free to charge at the moment although I hear that is going to change soon.

What’s been your best experience with a UK public charger?

Meeting like-minded people is my favourite experience at public chargers.

What’s been your worst experience with a UK public charger?

Waiting for hours for it to become available.

What’s got to change about public charging in the UK to get more people driving electric cars?

I can only answer for Northern Ireland but we need many, many more chargers.
