Past, Present & Future: VW ID.4 to a CUPRA Formentor Plug-In Hybrid

Past, Present & Future: VW ID.4 to a CUPRA Formentor Plug-In Hybrid

Philip Livingstone has moved from a VW ID.4 Max 77kWh to a Cupra Formentor e-Hybrid VZ2 1.4L/13kWh.

Via our survey, ‘Past, Present & Future’, we want to understand peoples’ respective car ownership stories. With the current climate crisis, there’s never been a greater need for emission-free driving yet at the same time, people are facing rising (and record) energy & general living costs.

This could ultimately change what car & fuel type a lot of people choose next. Also, we are very mindful that not everyone is on the road to electric so we wanted to highlight some of the more diverse & interesting feedback we’ve received.

Tell us about your CUPRA Formentor

Likes:

  • Ex-demonstrator
  • 9 months old with 3k on clock and immediate availability
  • CUPRA dealer was very good
  • fairly comfortable and decent size (nowhere near as good as the ID.4 though)
  • reasonable performance
  • hybrid removed ‘range anxiety’ due to poor availability of charge points.

Dislikes:

  • Not as spacious or as nice to drive as the ID.4
  • back to ICE, though majority of local journeys are 100% electric
  • prefer the higher seating position of ID.4
  • don’t like the Napa leather ‘bucket’ seats, poor wearing
  • as ex-stock, no sunroof.

If you had to choose your next car today, what would it realistically be and why?

2024 CUPRA Terramar SUV PHEV with 62 mile electric range and VW ID.4 size/comfort. Still lack of a convincing EV charging network, ridiculously high EV pricing and long lead times for delivery.
