Ford Mustang Mach-E 2022 electric car owner review

Mackey drives a Mustang Mach-E ER AWD 2022 electric car.

This is Mackey’s first electric car, they’ve owned the Mustang Mach-E from new and drive 5,000-10,000 miles per year. The current mileage is less than 500 miles and they achieve 220 miles range from a full charge.

Why did you choose the Mustang Mach-E?

Did a lot of research and visited a number of garages/showrooms. The Mustang Mach-E car had pretty much everything we needed and was really impressive on the test drive. Having had a ‘luxury’ brand we didn’t want to compromise on the spec and this car didn’t disappoint. We also needed a car with decent range and knew we wouldn’t get as much as the advertised range over winter so we’d planned for that. The stereo system is great, the back is nice and spacious for the growing kids and has a decent boot size too.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this electric car.

  • One pedal drive
  • the puddle lights
  • the cool door buttons.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this electric car.

  • The hands free tailgate is hit and miss
  • no boot opening button inside (I know it’s on the big screen!)
  • no frunk button on the key.

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?

None.

What are the standout tech features of the Mustang Mach-E?

We absolutely love the auto high beam which is directional according to traffic. Normally find it difficult to see driving at night but this makes it so much easier. The assist cruise control is brilliant, scary but brilliant! The Mustang Mach-E can speed itself up and slow itself down according to traffic. The one pedal drive is great, makes it more efficient to drive in OPD mode. Also love CarPlay which I’ve never had in a car before.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this Mustang Mach-E.

It has a little front camera washer to clean it when it gets dirty!

What electric car are you interested in next and why?

None, we’ve not had this car long and nothing on the market at the moment to make me want to even think about changing it. I absolutely love this car and it took me long enough to decide when looking for an EV for 7 months. It would have to be even more special to make me want to change it!

What home charging unit do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?

Hypervolt and would definitely recommend it. Very easy to use, nice sleek design, great customer service, cute LED lights in different modes & stands out from the crowd.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?

I’ve only used Pod Point and Raw charging so far. No issues with either of them. Easy to use, Pod Point was free although we did use the rapid once too. Rapid was relatively reasonably priced. Raw charging again easy to use and not too expensive. Had a bad experience with bp pulse as none of the points worked.

List your top 3 favourite public charging networks (in order of preference).

Only used Pod Point and Raw charging so Pod Point at the top, I guess.

Who do you insure your electric car with? Would you recommend them to others and why?

Axa – was one of the cheapest to insure with. Not as easy to sort out as previous insurance with LV but they wouldn’t insure the car.
