Why did you choose this car?
The price was very attractive. MG offers an NHS discount too. We have owned a Nissan LEAF since 2017 and wanted a car with a larger range. My father-in-law lives 120 miles away and it was a bit of a pain having to charge halfway in the LEAF. The trim levels are good for the price and it is an estate which is good as I have a couple of kids who need a bit of room especially when going camping!

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this car.

  • MG Pilot is a nice touch
  • It has a good range for the price.
  • It has a comfortable interior.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this car.

  • No pre-heating or app control (unlike our base level Nissan LEEAF 2017!)
  • Android Auto can be quite glitchy
  • It’s quite a plain-looking car – definitely not a looker!
  • That annoying animation every time the high beam headlights come on dominates the display for about 6 seconds!

Have you experienced any faults with the car? If so, what have they been?
None.

What are the standout tech features of the car?
Autopilot features (MG Pilot) are good in the base trim level. Otherwise, not much to speak about.

Surprise us! Tell us something people wouldn’t readily know about this car.
It has a nice little pocket by your leg to put your phone into (as long as your phone isn’t too big mind!). The USB charger supplies charge even when the car is off.

What car are you interested in next and why?
Hyundai IONIQ 5 looks nice – it has got a three plug socket in it, perfect for camping I reckon. Although this won’t be for a while having only just bought this car.

What home charging unit do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?
Ohme smart charger – it integrates well with our Octopus Go tariff to only charge when prices are low. The app is quite good too.

Rate your home charging unit out of 5.

What home electricity supplier & tariff do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?
Octopus Go Faster (cheap electricity between 1.30-6.30). They are very responsive over their social media accounts and prices are good (for now!)

Rate your electricity supplier out of 5.

What public charging networks would you recommend to others and why?
Rarely use them but always had a good experience with the IONITY chargers.

List your top 3 favourite public charging networks (in order of preference).
N/A

Who do you insure your EV with? Would you recommend them to others and why?
LV – a decent price, I guess. Never had a claim so couldn’t comment on that aspect.

Rate your insurance provider out of 5.

Estimate how much money you save per month owning and running an EV compared to a petrol/diesel car.
£100.
