Why did you choose this car?
Superior powertrain technology, superior vehicle safety, superior range and acceleration, superior functionality. Over the air updates means the car gets better. I opted for the Full Self Driving option which makes my long commutes really easy.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this car?

  • All the answers in the last question
  • Zero range anxiety
  • So fun to drive
  • Sound system is the best I ever heard in any car
  • Love getting my free miles when I plug-in at various free charging points around the country
  • Wonderful to wake up with a full tank every morning for very little cost
  • Very low maintenance costs.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this car?

  • The windscreen wipers are annoyingly bad. But they’re on a neural net so they should improve with updates over time.
  • No powered liftgates for front or back but the new Model 3s do for the back
  • Slow web browser responsiveness.

Surprise us! Tell us something surprising about this car?
I once left my car to go walking with my kids, my phone alerted me that the car alarm had been triggered so we ran back. When I returned, someone had crashed into the front of the car and driven off  but the car recorded all of it on its 8 cameras and I was able to show the police and the insurance company the evidence. Saved me my excess, no lost NCB, no increase on premiums the next year either! Who else has that technology?

What EV are you interested in next and why?
Tesla Model S Plaid. Next level technology, range acceleration and bio weapon defence mode for clean cabin air plus noise cancelling 22-speaker sound system. Can’t wait! Either that or maybe a cyber truck with 610 miles of range.

What home charging unit do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?
I charge on a regular three pin plug. It’s slow but suits my needs. I will be getting Pod Point I think for my charge point in the future or the Tesla one.

What home electricity supplier & tariff do you use? Would you recommend it to others and why?
Octopus Energy – Octopus Go June 2018 tariff, 13.93p/kWh, 24p standing charge, 4.8p kWh off-peak rate, great for car charging. 100% renewable energy too.

What public charging networks do you use? Would you recommend them to others and why?
Pod Point – reasonably reliable and many are cheap. I don’t really need them as the Tesla network is so good.

Who do you insure your EV with? Would you recommend them to others and why?
Churchill – so great to deal with when you need to claim.
