Why did you choose this car?
Best car I have ever driven.

Positives – List 3 or more reasons why you love this car?

  • Simple
  • Joy to drive
  • Very efficient.

Negatives – List 3 or more things that you really don’t like about this car?

  • Need more storage in the front area
  • Could do with a space saver wheel
  • Need another inch of ground clearance.

Surprise us! Tell us something surprising about this car?
It has an enormous load area.

Stick or twist? If it’s twist, what are you considering and why?
Twist to a Tesla Model Y which will be built in their Gigafactory, Berlin. RHD should be available in UK March 2022. This version will have the latest Tesla battery 4860.

What home charging unit do you use and would you recommend it to others?
Rolec – 7.6Kw from 32 amp home supply. This unit was good 6 years ago but now there are better choices.

What home electricity supplier & tariff do you use and would you recommend it to others?
EDF GoElectric 2022 – this gives me 10 hours continuous charge from 9pm till 7am Monday to Friday then 9pm Friday all weekend till Monday 7am which is 98 hours cheap rate @ 9p and allows me to run the home on a cheap rate for longer than Economy 7.

What public charging networks do you use and would you recommend them to others?
As I get free charging from Tesla at all superchargers across the UK and Europe and also at the Tesla destination chargers in hotels and other locations, I try to avoid most public chargers. Tesco has now provided charging stations across their locations and Pod Point is a good supplier.

There are a lot of providers and a total mismatch of services and prices. You should not have to be a member of each club to access a charger. It should be as easy as touch and go, the same as gas stations. I have over 40 cards and apps as I have travelled 88k miles across the UK and Europe and keep them just as a backup if needed. To date, Tesla chargers account for 76% of my charging, home is 22% and public is 2%.

Who do you insure your EV with and would you recommend them to others?
The NFU are a good solid company and I use Direct Line but you can get cheaper. When you are 1,978 miles from the UK it is nice to know the NFU have your back.
