Motor Fuel Group, UK's largest forecourt operator, signs up to Zap-Map’s EV payment system

Zap-Map and MFG recently signed the agreement to include the forecourt operator as part of the Zap-Pay partner network. As such, the two companies have begun work on the integration required to set up MFG as a fully-fledged Zap-Pay partner.

MFG is likely to be up and running on Zap-Pay towards the end of September and is the fifth charging network to join Zap-Pay. MFG’s charging network currently consists of over 40 rapid and ultra-rapid charging devices at service stations across the UK. Over the next ten years, MFG is planning to invest around £400 million in 3,000 ultra-rapid 150kW and 350kW EV charging devices across its network.

Zap-Pay, the simple way to pay for EV charging across networks from within the Zap-Map app, launched last year with the goal of signing up all the key charge point networks across the UK.

As a single-app payment system that uses a credit or debit card to pay for charging, Zap-Pay avoids the hassle of using different payment methods across all the various networks. The agreement between the two companies, which enables MFG’s network of rapid and ultra-rapid chargers to be Zap-Pay enabled, means Zap-Map users will be able to pay for rapid charging quickly and efficiently across the expanding MFG EV network.

“We’re delighted to welcome MFG on board as a Zap-Pay partner. As a dynamic and expanding network with strategically placed ultra-rapid charge points, MFG makes a fantastic addition to the Zap-Pay partner network, one that will make EV charging that much more attractive for Zap-Map users.”

Ed Chadwick, Director, EV & Strategic Projects at MFG, said:

“Our integration with Zap-Pay is an exciting step towards providing greater choice, simplicity and convenience for drivers using our expanding network of EV charging hubs. Anything we can do to reduce range anxiety and making the use of EV chargers a simple and easy to use process, must be applauded.”
